Happy Easter
This is a rambling post of my tired memories and thoughts from this weekend. God is good!
Holy Thursday |
My family and I are blessed to belong to an FSSP parish.
Good Friday |
The Triduum Masses and Good Friday service are incredibly rich.
Good Friday |
The Easter Vigil often brings tears to my eyes. Everything about it, from the Easter fire to the “Lumen Christi”, to the chanting of creation, to the singing of Sicut Cervus, to the Consecration, to the singing of Jesus Christ is Risen Today makes me so thankful to God.
Last year, Fr. Skeris visited our parish for the Triduum and my husband recorded Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. If anyone would like DVDs from last year, please let me know.
This year, Brendan served as an acolyte on Palm Sunday and Good Friday. My two oldest daughters sang with the choir. Patrick served as a torchbearer for the Easter Vigil for the first time and was very excited to do so. I didn’t get our usual Easter photo before leaving for Mass because I was preoccupied with Kilian – I wouldn’t have it any other way. Hopefully, the children will all wear the same outfits when Finnian receives his First Holy Communion in May and I will succeed in getting a photo then.
We took Holy Thursday and Good Friday off and are taking Easter Week off too. I am so grateful for our Catholic Faith, but more importantly I love God.
Easter Sunday Afternoon |
Christus Resurrexit!
Happy Easter!
Is the first Good Friday picture from the Stations of the Cross at the church? It's absolutely incredible!
Kilian looks like he's really been growing. He's so cute, and so is Kieran. 🙂 I hope you and your family have a happy and blessed Eastertide!
Hi Kate,
We were at the old St. Thomas Seminary for Holy Week and Easter. The Stations of the Cross are actually a mural made with tiny pieces of tile. The detail is absolutely amazing. The stained glass windows (I hope to share photos of some of these throughout the year) at the old seminary are also incredible.
Kilian is definitely growing. He had a well-child check appointment yesterday and is in the 90th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference.
I hope that you and your family have a happy and blessed Eastertide too! 🙂 May God bless you!
Beautiful! I had a torchbearer too – Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Makes my heart leap with joy to see my son up there able to kneel for so long. After all the photos I took (not that many really, since I was singing and trying not to be distracted by being shutter-happy) the one thing people asked if I got was a video of the unveiling. But no, I was turning on the choir loft lights and singing the Gloria. Your parishioners must love having a DVD available! (this is Tracy@Pinewood – can't seem to comment using my Typepad user ID)
