Clothing Advice from my Daughter

Catherine: “Mommy, I really like the skirt that you and Theresa made tonight. I like the style and everything. I would buy a skirt like that, but…”
Me: “What don’t you like about it?”
Catherine: “I like everything about it, but I don’t think that she can wear it to Mass because I think that it would be too much of a distraction. I know that if I were sitting behind her, I would be looking at it.”
I don’t know whether or not Theresa will be wearing her skirt to Mass, but I do know that I got a good laugh.
If nothing else, Theresa will wear her skirt, red shirt, and liberty bow flexi clip on the 4th of July. Oh wait, Independence Day falls on First Friday and we will be going to Mass!

At least, she can wear the skirt when she goes camping this summer.

Thank you, Kathleen. I will let Theresa know. 🙂

I can see her point! It is all modest and proper for church, but I could see my own daughters getting lost in the pretty colors and patterns and trying to decide which one is the most beautiful of all!

Great sewing! How on earth do you find time to do a project like that?

Thank you, Eva. This was actually a really easy and quick skirt. I told Theresa to get a skirt that she liked and I used it as the pattern. I stitched up the sides, used elastic for the waist, and hemmed it. Last summer, we made some tiered skirts which took a little bit more time, but it was worth it because Theresa wore them all the time. 🙂

I hope once Charlotte learns how to use the sewing machine, she will be able to sew herself a skirt too. I taught Jonathan how to use it, but not Charlotte. I never seem to get to it.
